Full Moon Reflections: Already Enough
I walked into my studio convinced I knew what I was going to make. I’d been thinking about the Full Moon and abundance, imagining a richly illustrated moon filled with flowers and intricate details. It felt like the obvious direction to take.
Instead, I looked down.
My studio floor is currently covered in little piles of colourful sari fabric left over from making my Curious Adornments. Bright pinks, turquoise, sequins, embroidery, tiny beads, mirrors... all the joyful things that have become such a big part of my creative practice over the last few months.
As I stood there, I realised that abundance was already surrounding me.
Not because I own beautiful fabrics, but because those fabrics represent something much bigger. They represent years of collecting things simply because they made me smile. They represent learning new skills, following creative curiosity, and finally allowing myself to make the kind of work I’ve always wanted to make.
So instead of making something new, I simply chose one tiny embroidered jewel from a piece of sari fabric and gave it a new home.
It felt completely right.
Perhaps that’s what this Full Moon is asking of me—not to strive for more, but to notice what is already here.
This has been a full season.
School is approaching the end of another academic year, and as every teacher knows, this is the point where you’re running on equal parts determination and caffeine. My dad has been unwell, although thankfully he’s on the mend. Parenting teenagers continues to be both exhausting and wonderful in equal measure. Money, like it is for most people, always requires thought and care.
And yet...
I have meaningful work.
I have a husband who still makes me laugh.
I have children who are finding their own way in the world.
I have a studio where I can lose myself in colour and thread.
I have friends, family, stories to write, students to teach and ideas that still keep me awake at night.
When I stop long enough to notice, I realise that my life is incredibly rich.
Not perfect.
Not easy.
But rich.
As I approach my fiftieth birthday, I’m becoming increasingly aware that abundance isn’t measured by how much we own or achieve. It’s measured by the depth of our relationships, the freedom to make, the privilege of meaningful work, and those ordinary moments that quietly become the life we hoped for.
This little card has become a reminder of that.
So tonight, wherever you are beneath the Full Moon, perhaps pause for a moment.
Look back with gratitude for the path that has brought you here.
Look forward with hope for all that is still unfolding.
And ask yourself a gentle question:
What if, in this moment, I already have enough?
Intention
I recognise the richness already present in my life.
Practice
Look back with gratitude for the path that has led you here, and forward with hope for all that lies ahead. Notice the opportunities hidden within your everyday life—the work that gives purpose, the people who bring love, the challenges that have helped you grow, and the quiet abundance of having enough.
